One Day Camp
THE LIFE AND TEACHINGS OF GURU GOBIND SINGH
JI
The winter is almost here and soon we will be
in the holiday season around Christmas time. The winter season is also
important for Sikhs as we celebrate the birthday of Guru Nanak on
November the 30th and the birthday of Guru Gobind Singh ji
on January 5th, 2002. To take advantage of this holiday period when
the children are free from the worries of exams, the OSS is arranging
for a one day camp on: The Life and Teachings of Guru Gobind Singh
ji.
The camp will be held at Gurdwara Sahib on
Saturday, December 29, 2001 from 8 am to 5 pm. It is open to
children from the ages of 5 and youth over the age of 16. There is no
specific upper age limit for participation in the camp.
A committee has been set up and is busy
planning the program. We hope to use the appropriate teaching /
learning methods for the different age groups. There will, however be,
an emphasis on participation in presentation of the material learnt by
all the students attending.
Please enroll your children and youth in this
camp, for which there will be no fee. Also please bring this
email to the attention of your friends who may have children who could
attend. Registration forms and posters for the camp should be
available shortly at Gurdwara Sahib. Please register early, so we can
know the number and ages of the children attending and plan
accordingly.
We are looking for volunteers to help out in
running the camp. Volunteers will be needed for preparing food for the
children attending, as well as for assisting the teachers in the
classroom. We ask the youth to participate as volunteers. If you wish
to participate in the camp in any way or if you can provide some
resource material for teaching purposes, please contact one of the
committee members below:
